The foundation has a close cooperation with the Lao-German Technical College (LGTC) in the capital Vientiane since 2015. The LGTC is a Lao governmental vocational school and offers various training courses in electrical engineering, metalworking, automotive repair, agricultural machinery, heavy machinery and welding and plumbing. Since the vocational school was founded in the 1960s as a joint development project between Germany and Laos, there has been a close connection with Germany.
The Lao-German Technical School (since 2015 College) in 1972, barely ten years after its foundation by the then Royal Lao Government and the Federal Republic of Germany.
In 2015, BHS Corrugated became the first German company to enter into a long-term cooperation with the LGTC. In the Recruitment and Training Programme (RTP), BHS Corrugated and the LGTC jointly train electricians (electric technician) and mechanics (general mechanic) in three-year courses. Basic knowledge in theory and practice is imparted to the trainees at the LGTC in Vientiane. The trainees foster their practical skills in regular internship phases in local Laotian companies and, if possible, also in neighboring countries – internships were possible for some even in Thailand and China. Since 2016, the Überbetriebliche Bildungszentrum in Ostbayern gGmbH has been a partner in the project and supports the promotion of dual training structures. The foundation Angels for Children promotes the transition from school to vocational training in the project.
Regular information sessions on the RTP at the lower secondary school Ban Phang Heng
At the lower secondary school Ban Phang Heng, several information events are held for the graduating classes during the course of the year in order to make students interested in vocational training at the RTP. The trainees of the current years are also regularly involved to give first-hand accounts of the training.
Organisation of visits at the Lao-German Technical College
Visits to the Lao-German Technical College are organised for those interested, during which they can experience everyday life at the vocational school and the activities in the training in one day.
Support in the design of training
Due to the long work of the Angels for Children Foundation, there are also many contacts to different stakeholders, such as companies. For example, a specialized training branch for companies in the textile industry has been established. The trainees are trained on sewing machines at the vocational school.
Support in the acquisition of internship companies and job applications at the end of training
Several times during the three-year training, the trainees are in partner companies for the practical training. The foundation supports the acquisition of partner companies and helps the trainees with the application phase after the end of the training.
