We had the pleasure of meeting the brilliant British composer, arranger, and trombonist Callum Au as we prepare for the launch of Legends for Children 2. 🎶 Callum Au created a Big Band arrangement for "Believe In You," which we recorded with Die Big Band of the German Army and the incredible trumpeter Louis Dowdeswell. 🎺

🌟 On Anong comes from Laos and started her nursing training with the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) in Weiden this September! 🏥 The AfC Foundation is supporting her with integration into life in Germany. Before this, she studied German at the National University of Laos and received a scholarship for a summer German language course in Leipzig. 📚 We wish On Anong all the best in her training! 🙌💪

The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development hosted an evening event to celebrate 60 years of German-Laotian development cooperation. 🎒📚 The new school year has officially kicked off at the three primary and secondary schools in Sikeud and Phang Heng! A total of 1,995 students are excited to start their learning journey with the support of 45 government teachers and 39 AfC-funded teachers and staff. 🏫✨
AfC Foundation has been provided all students with equipment and school uniforms, making sure everyone is ready and equipped for success! 🌟

Congratulations 🎊
In the summer, our trainees from Laos were amazed when our Integration Coach, Susanne Kempf, invited them to paint together. At first, they were a bit hesitant, but soon everyone enthusiastically picked up their brushes and expressed themselves through colors and images. The results are truly impressive, creating a fascinating collection of artwork.
This unique collection of individual pieces won’t be hidden away in a dark box: For the first time, the BHS artists showcased their work at the BHS company festival, and later this fall, the pieces will be exhibited at the ARIBO Hotel in Erbendorf. An exhibition is also planned at the LCB. And that’s not all—Susanne Kempf is already preparing a digital exhibition titled "Arrived! From Laos to the Upper Palatinate," which will also be available on YouTube. However, that will take a little more time.

Bavarian Minister Albert Füracker has inaugurated an exhibition of artist Susanne Kempf together with Lao trainees from BHS and guests from AfC foundation. The Laotians performed a traditional dance and shared conversations about their training and work experiences in Laos and Germany. It was an impressive event in the spirit of solidarity at the integration hotel ARIBO in Erbendorf, organized by Sozialteam.

After two years of dedicated training, they have successfully completed their IHK exams to become machine and plant operators and industrial electricians. But their journey doesn’t stop here. All 11 are now aiming for even higher professional qualifications.

We were thrilled to participate in this Culture Night showcasing traditional dances from Laos 💃🕺 and hosting a vibrant bazaar with Laotian artefacts and goods for sale 🛍️🖼️.

👨🏫 Four Lao teachers from the Lao-German Technical College completed a four-week advanced training in Mechatronics at the Inter-Company Training Center in Eastern Bavaria at BHS Corrugated in Weiherhammer. 🌟
🔧 We wish these teachers great success in applying their newly acquired skills and knowledge in Laos. Their dedication and hard work will greatly enhance their educational programs.
📅 A follow-up training session will be conducted by a German trainer in Laos this December. We are excited to see the continued progress and achievements of the Lao teachers.

Soulinya Phaxay, soon to be the new Director of the Lao-German Technical College (LGTC), is currently in Germany along with four Lao teachers, participating in an advanced training program with BHS Corrugated and the Inter-Company Training Center in Eastern Bavaria (ÜBZO).
This week’s agenda was packed with valuable experiences, including an in-depth look at the training framework for mechatronics, multiple company visits, a tour of the Vocational School in Weiden, and insights into new learning technologies and environments at the ÜBZO training workshops and the Future Lab. Additionally, they enjoyed excursions to Munich, Regensburg, and even the Czech Republic, enriching their cultural and professional journey.
In a heartwarming gesture, AfC foundation co-founder Gerlinde Engel, fondly known as "Madame" by our Lao friends, hosted a traditional Bavarian farewell lunch at her home today. Everyone enjoyed a delightful meal of roast pork and dumplings.
Tomorrow, Mr. Soulinya will bid farewell to Germany, taking with him invaluable knowledge and experiences to enrich LGTC.

On May 30th, Bounmy Saiyavong, Ching Vilaphoneher, Phoukham Thammavong, and Souksavanh Chitdamlong will embark on a long journey to Weiherhammer in Bavaria, where they will start a dual vocational training program at BHS Corrugated on September 1st. The training, either as a cutting machine operator or an industrial mechanic, will last 3 ½ years.
Immediately after arriving in Germany, the four students will first attend an intensive language course for three months to improve their German skills. They had the opportunity to use these skills during a conversation with Ambassador Annette Knobloch, discussing their expectations and impressions of Germany.
The four students completed their mechanical training at the Lao-German Technical College in Vientiane in July 2023 and have since been preparing for their stay in Germany.
The German Embassy in Vientiane wishes the four students a safe journey and a successful training period in Germany.
