In addition to school education, Angels for Children also supports extracurricular activities to promote the creative development of the children. During “activity time” every day between 3:00 – 4:00 pm, a wide range of activities are offered in the schools. In the art class, ten to 15-year-old students from the lower secondary school Ban Phang Heng<\/a> can freely express their creativity with watercolours, coloured pencils, craft supplies and much more.<\/p>

12 unique drawings have been selected to give the reader an insight into everyday life in Laos, culture and nature. Each drawing includes a description in Lao, English and German. MY BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE IN NATURE My village is as beautiful as in a dream or a fairytale. The wooden houses are big and strong. They are surrounded by meadows full of red, pink and orange flowers. A small path connects the two houses and leads to a turquoise waterfall and a pool. It is nice to jump into the cold water on a hot day. MY FAMILY\u2019S GARDEN\nMy family has a big garden behind our house.\nWe plant vegetables for our whole family because\nthen we don\u2018t have to buy anything\nfrom the market. That is good for us and our\nhealth because our vegetables are fresh and\nunsprayed. THE TEMPLE IN LAOS\nEvery Laotian village has, depending on its\nsize, one or more temples. These are very\ncolourful, usually with lots of gold and yellow.\nThey are a place of worship and respect\nfor Buddhists. Monks and novices, typically\ndressed in orange and yellow, live in the temples.\nEvery morning they wander through the\nstreets of the villages to collect their breakfast\nand lunch in form of alms. There is no\ndinner. The rest of the day is spent in the\ntemples praying.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>

MY DREAM\nI live in a small house in a village with my parents.\nMy parents are farmers and gardeners\nby profession. Our house is near our field,\nwhich is surrounded by three mountains.\nEvery morning at six o\u2018clock I get up to help\nmy mother water the garden. Then I leave\nfor school. When I get home from school, I\nhelp my mother with the housework and we\nwater the garden again. These are my daily\ntasks. I am really happy with my life. Next to the stilt houses were fields of flowers, a garden full of vegetables and a small pond. Behind the pond grew a large palm tree carrying delicious coconuts. THE HMONG VILLAGE Once upon a time there was a small village of Hmong people. They lived high up in the mountains and their lives were simple and happy. But the small village grew quickly and life became more difficult because there was not enough food for everyone. So they moved to the lowlands to live together with other ethnic groups: the Lao Loum, the Lao Theung and the Lao Soung.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>

DOK CHAMPA\n\u201eDok mai\u201c is the Laotian word for flower.\n\u201eDok Champa\u201c is the national flower of\nLaos. There are many different kinds of \u201eDok\nChampa\u201c, but the most famous one is white\nwith yellow. Others are red, pink or orange,\nas can be seen in the picture.
